What is a DualPore™ Liquid Chromatography Column?
DualPore™ Liquid Chromatography Column is an application of DualPore™ Silica” (reference: “Material Strengths”) as a liquid chromatography media. We offer user-friendly products that combine separation performance, liquid permeability, economy, and variation, all of which maximizes the effects of DualPore™’s unique 3-D structures.
High Separation Performance and Liquid Permeability
The DualPore™ carrier has micro-scale through-holes unlike conventional carriers, allowing substances to rapidly diffuse into the carrier, dramatically improving separation performance. This can be observed on a larger scale for substances with large molecular weights or substances that usually have slow diffusion speed due to its bulky structures.
In 1991, Dr. Fred E. Regnier predicted this as the “Perfusion Effect” and reported it in the scientific journal Nature. By manufacturing a particle carrier that has both high-precision microscale through-holes and nanoscale pores, we have successfully demonstrated this perfusion effect for the first time.

DualPore™ Silica is also manufactured using semiconductor-grade high-purity raw materials and does not contain calcium and other ingredients that would otherwise cloud the methanol used to wash the silica. The elimination of such impurities suppresses non-specific adsorption to DualPore™, leading to its excellent detergency and reusability.
Product Lineup
We offer 3 types of liquid chromatography columns for analysis and preparative uses: OPEN chromatography column, medium-low pressure Flash column, and high-pressure HPLC column, each for normal phase (SIL) and reversed phase (ODS).
OPEN Chromatography Column
Using OPEN Column, separation and purification can now be easily and quickly achieved without a medium-to-low pressure flash device. It comes prefilled with 50 µm DualPore™ silica particles.
This product exhibits separation performance equivalent to conventional Flash columns containing 50 or 30 μm particles while using the same medium-low pressure equipment, in addition to exceeding existing OPEN chromotography product by 3 times in processing power.
High Pressure HPLC Column
This user-friendly column can be used with high pressure, medium-low pressure, and OPEN systems. DualPore™ silica comes packed in columns sized 15 μm, 30 μm, and 50 μm, with main column variations of 100-4.6, 100-10, 100-20, 150-4.6, 150-10, 250-4.6, 250-10, 250-20, and 250-30 mm.
This product is compatible with general-purpose HPLC instruments and exhibits separation performance that exceeds that of conventional HPLC chromatography columns.
